Start your skill journey with the ancient craft of drop spindle spinning. Participants will explore the use of the top whorl drop spindle and hear the stories of this old-world essential textile process.  Move on to trying your hand with a spinning wheel for further skill development. Ages 9+

Impact: Mastering this simple skill for making your own yarn will evoke the work of our ancestors, connecting us to our own self-sufficiency and our global textile heritage. 

Participant and Materials Requirements: All materials provided. You may buy a drop spindle from the instructor during the class if you choose.

About the Instructor: Suzanne has been a handwork and art teacher in Waldorf Schools on the west coast of Oregon, Washington and BC for 20 years. She enjoys teaching people of all ages, seeing the arts as a wonderful vehicle to bring makers of all kinds into playing with colour, texture and design.
