Bellingham Beer Week is April 20th to 28th! Help save the brewery’s empty malt bags from the landfill! In this fun “popup” class, you will upcycle an empty plastic malt bag from a local microbrewery into a reusable grocery tote.
Student and Materials Requirements: Students must have a little experience using a sewing machine. All materials provided. Optional: bring your own working sewing machine with extra sewing machine needles and a spool of white polyester thread, scissors.
About the Instructor: Remade Malt Bags are created by one volunteer, “Bea Hamster”, who has repurposed empty malt bags into grocery totes since 2014 (starting at Ragfinery). Bea says she is saving the planet by remaking one malt bag at a time. She invites you to join her for a new sewing adventure to turn trash into a tote.
