This class will teach you to make sturdy baskets from almost any kind of scrap fabric! Thick strips of fabric are twisted and bound together with yarn, strong cotton string, or thin strips of more fabric. Learn this simple technique, then take your new skills home with you and continue creating to your heart’s content. Many possibilities await!

This workshop is offered in partnership with Allied Arts and the Recycled Art and Resource Expo (RARE), a two-day festival that celebrates creative reuse in the arts and other industries.

Participant and Material Requirements
Students can bring their own fabric or purchase fabric from Ragfinery. The amount of fabric needed will depend on the size of the basket you want to make and the weight of your fabric but should work out to approximately 2 yards fabric or equivalent. A darning needle will be provided.
