Dates: July 23-26, Tuesday – Friday
Time: 10am – 12pm daily
Description: Enrich your child’s summer vacation with our Drop-In Upcycle Sewing Camp! Bring them everyday or just one – it’s up to you! Each day costs $20. Please plan for your child to stay the entire two hours. Visit the register in the morning to pay for that day’s camp. Registration is first come first served and limited to 6 participants each day.
Tuesday – Kid’s Keychain
Kids will pick their favorite colors in felt to cut out shapes that they will hand sew together with a key ring to make their own keychain. Kids will learn to cut their shapes, hand sew them together and attach a key ring. Materials provided.
Wednesday – Upcycled Pin
Bring an old t-shirt or other clothing that was well loved to turn into a fun pin to be enjoyed again! Kids will learn to follow an easy pattern, cut their shapes and sew on a button.
Thursday – Upcycled Pillow (with a sewing machine!)
Kids can bring or choose from an assortment of fun placemats and tea towels to sew a throw or toy sized pillow! Ragfinery staff will thread the sewing machines and help new sewers guide their stitches to make their very own pillow from start to finish! Kids will learn to follow a pattern and sew seams. Materials provided.
Friday – Upcycled Drawstring Bag (with a sewing machine!)
Kids will choose from a selection of pre-cut pieces of sheets and pillowcases to sew their own drawstring bag. Ragfinery staff will have the sewing machines ready and will help new sewers guide their stitches to make their bag. Kids will learn to follow a pattern, sew seams, and put in a drawstring. Materials provided.
Impact: Make use of discarded textiles such as table linens, t-shirts, felt, and more, creating less demand for new consumer goods while learning new skills.
