Note: This spring break camp takes place Monday-Friday, April 6-10, from 10 am to 2 pm daily.
Spend spring break sewing up a storm! Campers will learn to hand sew with projects such as brooches, salmon stuffies, and a pencil bag. Later in the week, campers will learn to thread a sewing machine, follow along straight and curved lines, and create the final project of a fabric collage tote bag or pillow! Kids ages 9+.
Impact: Discarded textiles and small scraps of fabric are diverted from the waste stream to make unique creations, while teaching kids the lifelong skill of sewing.
Participant and Materials Requirements: No previous sewing experience necessary. All materials provided. Please bring a snack, lunch, and water.
About the Instructor: Emma Young is a multi medium artist who enjoys painting, knitting, crocheting, textile work, and jewelry creating, among many other mediums. She has been sewing for as long as she can remember. When she was 8 years old she got her own sewing machine and has been working her way through life with it ever since! She currently teaches classes and independent clients, as well as doing consignment sewing and tailoring as an independent contractor. She loves repurposing clothes and textiles to give them a second life!
