Learn how to craft a beautiful no-sew braided rug from old sheets! This four strand technique eliminates the need for sewing braids together and results in a sturdy rug able to withstand the modern washer and dryer.
Impact: Worn, torn, or stained fabrics are diverted from the landfill.
Participant and Materials Requirements: Please bring sharp scissors, 2 old bed sheets in distinctly different colors, flat or fitted, any size. Avoid white as this will be a rug and white will get dirty fast so I don’t recommend it. Patterns are fine. Sheets can also be purchased at Ragfinery prior to class when the shop is open from 10am-5pm on Tuesday-Saturday and 12-5pm on Sunday.
About the Instructor: Kirsten Wert enjoys keeping busy with many different crafts and projects from tiling to jewelry to sewing. She has been making rugs for the past 6 years and enjoys teaching this class. “I love how durable these rugs are and how beautiful they can be even when made with something that would otherwise have been thrown out.” You can also find Kirsten biking around town, out in the county or up on Galbraith.
