Note: This workshop is held on two consecutive Saturdays, 10/5 and 10/12.
Fondly called Sewing Bootcamp in the past, this popular workshop now features increased instruction time and a new name! It focuses on teaching you to upcycle or alter your own clothes and is taught by the patient and personable, Brigitte. Start with the basics, learning about the care and use of a sewing machine, then jump right into sewing! Students of varying proficiency are all welcome in this collaborative environment. Brigitte aims to tailor instruction to individual needs and will contact each person individually prior to the first session. We will be using Ragfinery’s Baby Lock sewing machines. Please bring a lunch or snack if needed.
Impact: Used clothing is reinvented as new-to-you, decreasing demand for newly manufactured items and extending the life of existing garments.
Participant and Materials Requirements: Brigitte will email you before the first class to obtain information about your sewing background. Please plan to bring your project of choice to the first class.
About the Instructor: Brigitte’s love for reimagining existing garments comes from many years of costuming for school and community theatre productions. Working with small budgets led her to finding surprising uses for whatever was available. She has learned much from the many Ragfinery Bootcamp participants and always looks forward to meeting new upcyclers.
